10.03.2017

The centenary of the formation was celebrated in the Tiraspol City Council of People's Deputies. Tiraspol elected the City Council after Bendery, where the centenary was celebrated on March 8.

The first Council of Deputies of Tiraspol, whose chairman was the Socialist-Revolutionary, Ensign Grigory Kutomanov was elected. It included 15 people March 12, 1917 in the building of the People's Auditor in the Pokrovskaya Street. April 1, the Tiraspol City Council of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies decided to introduce an eight-hour working day.

Today, paying tribute to all people's deputies, parliamentarians of the 25th convocation of the Tiraspol City Council, as well as the founders of Pridnestrovie, laid flowers to the memorial plaque at the building where the first meeting of the Council was held.

A solemn session of the Tiraspol City Council was opened in the city Palace of Culture. The Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, the First President of Pridnestrovie Igor Smirnov, representatives of the Government, deputies of the Supreme Council, and members of the consultative assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies took part in its work. Many of them each in their time represented the interests of Tiraspol in the city Council. It was the Tiraspol City Council in 1990 that heard the will of people expressed in referendums that passed throughout the country: to be equal citizens of the country.

Deputies of the Tiraspol City Council were awarded state awards and jubilee medals for the contribution to the establishment of local self-government.
