The leadership of the Parliament of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic took part in a round table on the topic "Inter-parliamentary dialogue for the sake of maintaining peace and stability on the banks of the Dniester", organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin in his welcoming speech focused on the importance of Russian-Pridnestrovian inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Russian senator drew attention to the difficulties in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiation process, which negatively affect the socio-economic situation in Pridnestrovie.
The Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs is convinced that in the current regional situation, starting talks about creating new dialogue platforms on Pridnestrovie, attracting new political players to them, “means a deliberate desire to lead negotiations into a dangerous dead end”.
The PMR Supreme Council Chairman took part in the work of the round table. Alexander Korshunov at the beginning of his speech drew attention to the fact that today the issues of regional and global security have again become the dominant topic on the agenda.
According to the speaker of the Parliament of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Russian peacekeepers will play a key role in maintaining peace in the region.
The Head of the legislature of Pridnestrovie stated that the regional situation in the political sphere and the security sector continues to deteriorate. Pridnestrovie notes extremely dangerous trends in the neighboring Republic of Moldova - its intensive militarization by NATO and European Union member states, as well as regular joint exercises of the Moldovan army with the military contingents of Western countries. The political course of the neighboring Republic of Moldova, aimed at breaking off relations with Russia and the CIS, causes great concern among the leadership of Pridnestrovie.
The Speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament at the end of his speech expressed hope for further strengthening and expansion of Russian-Pridnestrovian cooperation both in the political and socio-economic spheres.
