The head of the legislature Alexander Korshunov met with the US Deputy Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Martin McDowell. The meeting was attended by Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Chairman of the Supreme Council Commission on Foreign Policy and International Relations Galina Antyufeyeva and the head of the parliamentary committee on education, science and culture Mikhail Burla.
It was the first introductory meeting of American diplomats with the deputies after the election of new Chairman of the Supreme Council. Welcoming foreign guests at the parliamentary platform, Alexander Korshunov expressed hope for the fruitfulness of the upcoming dialogue.
The Chairman of the Parliament described Pridnestrovie as a multiethnic region, where everyone has equal rights and freedoms.
The subject of joint discussion was the work of the American Center of Culture at PSU. American diplomats, in particular, were interested in the opinion of people's deputies on the legislative elections that took place last Sunday in Moldova. Comprehensive comments were given to all questions.
Galina Antyufeyeva commented on the discussed topics in the course of the parliamentary pool meeting held at the Supreme Council.
In conclusion, the vice speaker noted that such meetings with international partners are very useful. In this regard, plans for further interaction were outlined. The main thing is that the agreements reached during the negotiations should not remain only on paper, but have a positive effect on the life and welfare of citizens.
