The Afghan war. 600,000 Soviet soldiers has passed through its muzzle for nearly a decade. 150,000 were wounded. 313 people missing. 14,000 did not ever know that February 15, 1989 the last column of troops crossed the Afghan-Soviet border. Among those whose life closed in the Afghan land – there are 54 Pridnestrovians. Representatives of the republic, relatives of the victims, brothers-in-arms gathered to honor their memory on the capital Memorial of Glory.
The head of the Pridnestrovian Association of Afghan war veterans, deputy the Tiraspol City Council Igor Bug, addressing the participants of the rally-requiem, stated with regret, that Afghanistan today is a "point of tension".
