Alexander Scherba, "The memory of a small homeland makes us persons who form a single nation"

24.05.2017

The southernmost city of Pridnestrovie - Dnestrovsk - was founded in 1961 with the beginning of the construction of the Moldovan GRES, designed to provide electricity to the Moldavian SSR and the southern regions of the Ukrainian SSR. Dnestrovsk celebrates its birthday May 24, the Day of Slavonic Writing. Almost 20 years ago it was this day in the city that the church of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius was opened. The church was not accidentally named by the names of these saints. After all, the city-forming enterprise Moldavskaya GRES and Dnestrovsk itself was built by representatives of all Slavic peoples. Since then, these saints are considered patrons of the city of power engineers. It is at the church of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius that festive events commemorate the City Day every year. Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, a Deputy representing the interests of the Dnestrovsk, Viktor Guzun, their parliamentary colleagues Vadim Doni, Oleg Vasilaty, the local administration, came to congratulate residents of Dnestrovsk.

The Divine Liturgy in the church was served by the Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova Vladimir, Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva. At the end of the service, a procession around the church took place. Then all residents of Dnestrovsk were congratulated by the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, for whom Dnestrovsk is a small homeland. His parents came to the Komsomol construction site "Moldavskaya GRES". The future speaker grew up in Dnestrovsk, graduated from local school No 2.

Dnestrovsk is famous for its coziness, shady alleys, flowering streets. In summer the townspeople and visitors of the city are attracted by the local estuary. Residents of Dnestrovsk are friendly and welcoming. They are distinguished by incredible solidarity, as in a large and friendly family. A teacher Olga Chebotar brought little children. The pupils congratulated their native Dnestrovsk on the holiday.

Celebratory events in honor of the City Day will last in Dnestrovsk all day. Residents and guests of the city with their bright performances will be pleased with local creative teams.
