Militia Day is celebrated on November 10 - the day when the resolution "On militia" was adopted. This happened in Russia in 1917, although the concept of "militia" existed earlier in other countries. The main functions of the militia were and remain the maintenance of public order, monitoring the implementation of laws, and fighting crime in the USSR and after its collapse.
Back in Soviet times, specialized types of militia were created in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: criminal investigation, water, railway, industrial, departmental, passport offices, traffic militia, migration departments, departments for combating economic crimes.
The militia took part in the creation of our state, said Galina Antyufeyeva, chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Law Enforcement Agencies.
The structure of law enforcement agencies has been constantly changing. New units appeared - the horse militia, the emergency management department, an expert and forensic center was opened in the Pridnestrovian militia. A video system "Safe City" helps not only monitor the situation on the roads, but also identify offenders and solve crimes.
The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is one of the few countries where the law enforcement agencies have retained the name "militia". The Supreme Council introduces amendments and additions to the law "On Militia" in accordance with the changing realities of the modern world. Reform began in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the end of 2017. Re-certification in service and physical training was carried out, a mechanism for individual assessment of the performance of each employee was introduced.
In the course of the reform, the entire apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was divided into employees who were directly involved in operational activities and those who work in auxiliary services. "Cabinet" employees were transferred to the category of civil servants. The Ministry of Internal Affairs paid attention to reducing the number of managers and increased the number of employees who serve on the streets of the republic's cities.
Deputy of the Committee for Economic Policy, Budget and Finance Alexander Korshunov recalled that the Supreme Council adopted the law "On state support for young families in the acquisition of housing". Young specialists are provided with subsidies for the purchase of housing from the state budget. Among the recipients of such subsidies are the district militia inspectors of the PMR Internal Affairs Ministry. The militiamen also participate in the presidential program "Affordable Housing", which allows them to buy an apartment at a low price in buildings under construction. Militia officers are at the forefront in the realities of 2020.
Deputies of the PMR Supreme Council wished all law enforcement officers of the republic health, prosperity, family happiness and professional success.
