The Head of “Veteran” Slobodzeya club Elena Svishcheva celebrated her 90th anniversary

The Head of “Veteran” Slobodzeya club Elena Konstantinovna Svishcheva turned 90 years old on the 8th of April. A gala event and concert were held within the club’s walls on the occasion of the anniversary.

Deputy of the Supreme Council for electoral district No. 21 “Slobodzeya” Pavel Shinkaryuk congratulated the birthday girl.

Elena Svishcheva was congratulated by the Head of the Slobodzeya state administration Vasily Tishchenko.

Chairman of the Slobodzeya District City Council Tatyana Zalevskaya expressed her admiration for the strength of spirit and love of life of Elena Svishcheva, and thanked her for her work for the benefit of the Slobodzeya region and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, wishing the hero of the day good health, long life, prosperity, and that close people will always surround him with warmth, care and love.

Elena Svishcheva was born in the Gagauz village of Chishmikioy, in a family where six children were raised. Having lost her father on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and having survived the difficult years of hunger strike, together with her five brothers and sisters she was sent to an orphanage in the Moldavian village of Hadji Abdul, where she was raised until she graduated from school. Afterwards she entered railway school No. 1 in Poltava and received the specialty of a 5th category turner. She began her career at a steam locomotive repair plant.

Returning to the Moldavian SSR, Elena Konstantinovna worked in the Komsomol district committee as head of the school department for pioneer work in the city of Vulcaneshty. She moved to Slobodzeya together with her husband. She raised two children. She worked as a librarian, teacher, and teacher of sanatorium (24-hour) kindergarten groups. Teaching experience is 55 years. Elena Svishcheva is a labor veteran, awarded the medal “For Labor Valor”, the Order of “Labor Glory” and other state awards.

She had been the oldest member of the “Dragayka” Moldovan folk group for decades. She heads the “Veteran” club in Slobodzeya and sings in the veterans’ choir of the district House of Culture more than 15 years.
