Deputies of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic took part in ceremonial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the cities of Dubossary, Grigoriopol, Slobodzeya and villages of the districts liberation from the German-Romanian invaders.
The liberation of Dubossary, Grigoriopol and Tiraspol was carried out during the Odessa offensive operation (March 26-April 14, 1944).
Dubossary
The city of Dubossary and the Dubossary district was liberated by troops of the 89th Rifle Division under the command of Seryugin and the 94th Guards Red Banner Zvenigorod-Berlin Order of Suvorov Rifle Division under the command of Colonel Shostatsky of the 53rd Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, as well as troops 299th Kharkov Rifle Division under the command of Travnikov of the 5th Shock Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front in April 1944.
The solemn event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Dubossary from the Nazi invaders was attended by Boris German, deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for constituency No. 11 “Central”. Boris German together with city leaders and Dubossary residents laid fresh flowers at the graves of the liberating soldiers at the Dubossary Memorial of Military Glory.
The liberation of the city of Dubossary and a number of villages in Dubossary district was reported in the operational reports of the Sovinformburo dated April 12 and 13, 1944. The city was in a state of siege under continuous shelling 135 days after the liberation, since the southern part of the area, consisting of the villages of Koshnitsa, Dorotskoe, and Pyryta, was occupied by the Nazis. The entire Dubossary region (within its former borders) was liberated in August 1944 during the Iasi-Kishinev operation.

Grigoriopol
Fearless soldiers of the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian Fronts brought freedom from the German-Romanian occupiers to the lands of Grigoriopol and Grigoriopol district on April 12, 1944.
The occupation of Grigoriopol continued for 995 days and nights. 5162 Soviet soldiers were killed, and about 1500 residents of the Grigoriopol region died a heroic death on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War in the battles for the liberation of the Grigoriopol region, reports the website of the Grigoriopol State Administration.
“The city remembers that April...” solemn meeting was held today at the “Grieving Mother” Memorial Complex, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city and region from the German-Romanian invaders., , Deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR for electoral district No. 7 Oleg Leontyev together with the leadership of the city and district took part in it. Representatives of paramilitary forces, public organizations, and guests of the city came to honor the memory of the soldiers and officers of the Red Army who brought freedom to the area.
Wreaths and flowers were laid on marble slabs with the names of heroes for a peaceful life as a sign of gratitude Veterans of the Great Patriotic War in memory of those who fought along the difficult roads of war, who did not return from the front, who died from battle wounds already in peacetime, who shed blood and sweat on our Pridnestrovian land, who cleared fields and gardens of mines.
“The Steps of Victory” mass event took place in Grigoriopol Today, where the district’s Youth Army members handed over a handful of soil from the soil of the “Grieving Mother” Memorial to the Youth Army members of the city of Bendery. Capsules with soil from memorial sites in the cities of Pridnestrovie will be laid on August 23, 2024 at the “Mass Graves” Memorial Complex in Bendery, a city with the liberation of which peace came to Pridnestrovie in August 1944.

Slobodzeya
The main festive event dedicated to the liberation of Slobodzeya and Slobodzeya district from the German-Romanian invaders took place at the Victory Arch in Slobodzeya on April 12.
Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for constituency No. 21 “Slobodzeya” Pavel Shinkaryuk took part in the solemn meeting “Memory Alley” together with the leaders of the state administration and the district city council, social activists, schoolchildren and students.
The memory of the fallen soldiers of the Soviet Army was honored with a minute of silence.
The meeting was filled with theatrical performances telling about the horrors of war and occupation. Representatives of the district's cultural center in themed costumes read out letters from participants in the Great Patriotic War, memories of medical instructors and nurses, war children and citizens who went through the horrors of concentration camps, the website of the Slobodzeya State Administration reports.
Choreographic performances were presented by the exemplary dance ensemble “Rhythmic Dance”. Soloists of the regional House of Culture Oksana and Alexey Eskin, Anatoly Konstantinov and People's Artist of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Yuri Gurov performed the songs “Front-line letters”, “Children of War”, “And yet we won”, “Let us bow to those great years”.
A ceremony was held as part of the republican mass event “The Steps of Victory” to transfer the land from the Slobodzeya Memorial of Glory to representatives of Bendery. A memory capsule with soil from all cities of Pridnestrovie will be buried on August 23, on the day of the liberation of the last settlement of Pridnestrovie from the fascist invaders.
Flowers were laid at the end of the rally; the column was led by the youngest descendants of the generation of winners – pupils of the “Ivushka” and “Albinutsa” child development centers.
