About a thousand portraits of war veterans as part of the Immortal Regiment people's memory event were made by the Obnovlenie (Renewal) Republican Party over the past year at the request of residents and organizations. 14000 photographs have been printed since 2016 in total, according to the website of the party. It is a tradition for many Pridnestrovians to come to the celebration of Victory Day with portraits of their fathers and grandfathers-front-line soldiers.
Solemn events dedicated to the Great Victory Day were held in the cities and districts of the republic. Deputies of the Supreme Council took part in it.
May 9 was celebrated in Slobodzeya in the Russian and Moldovan parts of the town. Hundreds of Slobodzeya residents came to bow to the feat of Soviet soldiers and officers and express their gratitude to the generation of victors. Residents and guests of the city were congratulated by the deputy of the Supreme Council for the constituency No. 21 "Slobodzeya" Pavel Shinkaryuk on the 78th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The leadership of the town and the district and deputies visited the residents of Slobodzeya, equated to the participants of the Great Patriotic War. There were more than 20 addresses in total. The deputies thanked the veterans for their contribution to the Victory and wished them good health and prosperity.
The celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Great Victory began in Rybnitsa with the laying of flowers at the memorial sign of Major General Konstantin Tsvetkov, commander of the 41st Infantry Division, which liberated the town and the district from the German-Romanian invaders. The city leadership, deputies of the Supreme Council Valentin Matveychuk, Yakov Galak, Vasily Kunitsky, representatives of the Obnovlenie (Renewal) party, labor collectives and public organizations, youth took part in the laying ceremony. The memory of those who did not return from the war was honored with a minute of silence. The festive rally was attended by 99-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War Philip Olovyagin. He was the first to lay flowers at the Eternal Flame.
Parliamentarians Valentin Matveychuk and Vasily Kunitsky took part in the celebration of Victory Day in their constituencies – in the villages of Belochi, Krasnenkoe and Mokra of the Rybnitsa region. Residents organized an exhibition of portraits of their relatives-front-line soldiers in the village of Belochi.
The events in honor of Victory Day were held on the central square in Dnestrovsk. The memory of the fallen and those who did not live to this day was honored with a minute of silence. Flowers were laid by the deputy of the Supreme Council for the constituency Number 33 "Vostochny" Viktor Guzun at the monument to three soldiers: a Soviet soldier, an Afghan and a Pridnestrovian defender, which was opened last year.
Flowers were laid at the graves of the liberators of the city at the Memorial of Military Glory in Dubossary. The youth gave St. George ribbons to the townspeople. The same mass event took place in Grigoriopol. In addition, copies of front-line letters were handed out to residents. The commemorative rally was held at the "Grieving Mother" memorial.
The townspeople gathered in Bendery on the Heroes' Square and laid flowers at the memorial. Many were holding portraits of the heroes of the Immortal Regiment in their hands.
Such an action in memory of Soviet soldiers took place throughout Pridnestrovie. Photos of families who fought at the front were placed on the windows in their apartments and houses.
Deputies of the Supreme Council congratulated Pridnestrovians in social networks and instant messengers. Parliamentarian Ilona Tyuryaeva noted that our duty is to keep the memory of those who crushed Nazism, who bequeathed to do everything so that the horror of a global war does not happen again.
Parliamentarian for the constituency No. 15 Kirovsky of Rybnitsa Andrey Safonov congratulated Pridnestrovians on the Victory Day.
Parliamentarian Andrey Mezhinsky and deputies of the Tiraspol City Council in constituency No. 32 "Komsomolsky" appealed to the residents of the capital district.
