The Pridnestrovian State Institute of Arts named after Rubinstein, the only music university in the republic, celebrates the 65th anniversary of its founding this year. Students and teachers of the university celebrated the anniversary with a big concert.
The history of this educational institution began back in 1959 with the opening of a music school in Slobodzeya. The school moved to Tiraspol and expanded, adding departments for strings and Moldavian folk instruments, music theory and solo singing in 1971. The school was transformed into the Republican College of Music in the early 90s, and it received the status of a Higher Music College in 1997, offering specialized secondary and higher music education. The educational institution has been operating as the Pridnestrovian State Institute of Arts since August 2013. The music university today has 9 graduating and 3 non-graduating departments, where they teach instrumental performance, pop art, choral conducting, vocal and choreographic art, music theory, sociocultural activities, folk art –24 directions totally. There are currently 150 teachers and 300 students at the university.
They decided to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the unique university with an anniversary concert, at which students and teachers performed creative numbers, demonstrating their talents and achievements. The concert program featured a variety of genres: from classical music to folk dances, choral and vocal performances.
Member of Parliament Ilona Tyuryaeva came to congratulate the students and teaching staff of the university on their anniversary. The university is located in her constituency. The deputy presented the rector with a welcoming address from the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, and personally noted the significant contribution of the educational institution to the development of education and culture of our republic.
The anniversary concert of the Pridnestrovian State Institute of Arts named after Rubinstein became a bright event that united students, teachers and guests in an atmosphere of celebration and inspiration. The university administration plans in the near future to resume the tradition of annual reporting concerts, interrupted during the coronavirus pandemic.
