The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is 32 years old. The department was formed after the creation of Pridnestrovie – the Supreme Council of the PMSSR approved the structure of state authorities on the 5th of March, 1991. The Department of Internal Affairs became part of the Government. It was noted in the course of the solemn meeting on the occasion of the anniversary of the department that Pridnestrovian militiamen made a significant contribution to repelling the armed aggression of Moldova in the early 1990s. 16 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the young republic. More than 40 employees died in the line of duty in peacetime. Flowers at the monument to the dead were laid by the leadership of the republic and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, deputies of the Supreme Council, veterans of the department.
Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens Oleg Petrik took part in the solemn events. The deputy of the Supreme Council emphasized that the work of law enforcement agencies is not only in the protection of public order, the militia also perform a number of other tasks.
The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked the personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the work and the results achieved by the employees. He noted militia veterans and those who headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs in different years for their contribution to the development of the law enforcement system.
Veterans participate in the moral and patriotic education of both the personnel of the internal affairs bodies and youth, they said in the course of the solemn meeting. Interior Minister Vitaly Neagu emphasized that they are doing everything to ensure that the younger generation adopts the best traditions of the militia of the past.
Distinguished employees received state awards and regular military ranks on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
