“The PMR Defenders Union” is 30

“The PMR Defenders Union” public organization of Tiraspol celebrated the 30th anniversary. Solemn meeting dedicated to the anniversary was attended by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the PMR Supreme Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov, the First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, the PMR Defense Minister Oleg Obruchkov.

“The PMR Defenders Union” of Tiraspol includes about 2400 people. These are people of various professions who worked at Tiraspol enterprises and organizations, and in the early 1990s stood up to defend the young Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Not everyone returned home from the military clashes while defending Pridnestrovie from Moldova’s attack. The memory of the fallen defenders and civilians was honored with a minute of silence today. Representatives of the Union of Defenders and youth military-patriotic organizations laid wreaths of flowers at the graves of the defenders, at the Wall of Memory with the names of those killed during the armed conflict of 1992, and at the monument to the defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on the Memorial of Glory.

“The PMR Defenders Union” public organization of Tiraspol was created in 1994, when participants in military operations to protect the Pridnestrovie who had returned to civilian life and to their enterprises needed the support of their comrades. The organization provides assistance to defenders and is engaged in the patriotic education of schoolchildren and students today. Pupils of the “Bars” military sports club, which educates the young generation of patriots of Pridnestrovie, came to the solemn event to congratulate and support the Tiraspol defenders.

“Who is the defender of Pridnestrovie? This is not just a person with a machine gun. It goes without saying, it is understandable, but a defender is the one who defended the Motherland at his workplace –  teaching children, saving from illness, from death, serving in the army, in law enforcement agencies, and one who ensured the functionality of the state. They are all essentially protectors. All Pridnestrovians are defenders to one degree or another. We love our Motherland, wish prosperity to Pridnestrovie, wish it recognition, raise children, develop, create jobs, maintain peace, conduct a complex dialogue at various international platforms... Now is a difficult time. But you have to go through it too. The truth is on our side. There will be recognition of Pridnestrovie. The Pridnestrovian people deserve it. Defenders in addition to protecting the Motherland are responsible for passing on experience and knowledge to the younger generation. We need to talk about the Soviet Union, and about the formation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, and about the people of Pridnestrovie, about why the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was created and how it was defended”, - said the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, speaking to those gathered in the hall.

The President congratulated the organization members on their anniversary. The most distinguished were awarded state awards for their great contribution to the protection and development of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, active social activities, many years of conscientious work, and in connection with the 30th anniversary of the formation of “The PMR Defenders Union” public organization in Tiraspol. An ambulance paramedic, a technical school teacher, an engineer were among the awarded defenders of Pridnestrovie, and like all defenders of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic they are “always ready for defense of our state”.
