The memory of the Bendery tragedy

The main mourning events, dedicated to the tragic date of June 19, are being held today in Bendery. Due to quarantine restrictions imposed in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, only government officials, representatives of ministries, departments of Bendery participate in the events.

Today, the memory of all those who died on the tragic days of the summer of 1992 was commemorated by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with his wife, the first President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Government Alexander Martynov, deputies of the Supreme Council for the districts in Bendery and Parkany Ruslan Gareev, Oleg Petrik, Yuri Kucherenko, Oleg Belyakov, Anton Onufrienko, Sergey Pisarenko, Ivan Nedelkov. They laid wreaths and flowers at the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow. A moment of silence was announced.

Fresh flowers were laid today on the graves of the fallen defenders of Bendery in the Borisov cemetery, at the Chapel in Echin Street, at the foot of the memorial sign to the Cossacks and the stela "City of Military Glory".

Then, the first persons of the state, members of parliament, Heads of law enforcement agencies of the republic, the Head of Bendery and the Chairman of the city council laid flowers at the memorial sign to the women defenders of Pridnestrovie. It was installed in 2010 in honor of the participants of the "rail war" - activists of the women's strike committee. On September 1, 1991, they went to a rally, upholding the freedom of Pridnestrovian deputies, and then, along with men, continued the struggle for the independence of Pridnestrovie.
