The 27th of September – World Tourism Day

Tourism is one of the directions of the PMR Development Strategy for 2019-2026

The main goal of the state policy in the tourism sector is to create a modern tourism industry that will provide services to both Pridnestrovians and foreign citizens at a high level.

A set of measures is prescribed for this:

1. updated regulatory framework;

2. tourist infrastructure: monuments of architecture, history and culture, places for tourists to live;

3. transport logistics: route signs and landmarks;

4. formation of an attractive image of Pridnestrovie;

5. promotion of tourism services in the international market;

6. international cooperation in the sphere of tourism;

7. release of thematic materials.

What has been done in the field of tourism during the 4 years of the "Strategy"?

The Supreme Council adopted the state program "Support and development of tourism" for 2019-2026.

As part of the state program, the following has already been implemented:

– promote and actively advertise on the Internet and in printed publications (including foreign ones) tourism services provided in Pridnestrovie;

– the site “Visit Pridnestrovie” has been developed and is being promoted, which contains complete information for Pridnestrovian and foreign tourists;

- signs of the main tourist attractions and routes to them have been installed;

– Organized tourists' access to the Internet by creating and equipping new Wi-Fi zones.

The Supreme Council is considering a draft of a new law on tourism

To develop a new law on tourism that would meet the modern context and tasks of the integrated development of tourism – such a task for 2022 was set in January by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky as part of his message to state authorities and administration.

The current law "On the basics of tourism activities in the PMR" has been operating since 2002 and today does not fully regulate this area.

The draft of the new law "On tourism in the PMR" was developed by the Government. The deputies of the Supreme Council adopted the document in the first reading. Parliament continues to work on the law-in-draft for adoption in the final reading.

It is planned that the new law "On tourism in the PMR" will provide for:

- mandatory certification for the provision of services in the field of tourism, which will positively affect the quality of service for tourists;

- introduction of a unified republican register of tourism. This information base will contain a databank of all organizations working in the sphere of tourism. Thus, tour operators and travel agents will be able to work only after registration in a single register;

- the procedure for training specialists in the sphere of tourism and the frequency of advanced training of personnel will also be regulated.

Opinion of the Parliament Speaker 

“Tourism is important for the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic both in terms of developing business activity, and in terms of investment attractiveness, and in terms of creating a positive image of Pridnestrovie abroad. We are confident that this law will encourage our entrepreneurs to invest in the development of tourism,” said the Supreme Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov,.

Year of agro-industrial complex, rural territories and rural tourism

2023 has been declared the Year of the Agro-Industrial Complex, Rural Territories and Rural Tourism in Pridnestrovie.

An action plan was approved to support and develop rural tourism for 2022-2025by order of the Government:

– organization of information tours to rural tourism facilities for media representatives and travel agencies;

– holding days of open doors in the subjects of rural tourism;

– creation of new tourist routes in the countryside.
