The Society of Historian-Archivists of Pridnestrovie has been working for a quarter of a century to preserve and develop historical memory, the historical heritage of the people of Pridnestrovie. The founding conference of the Society took place on May 21, 1999. This date has been considered the day of creation of the public organization since then. It brings together representatives of government and administrative bodies, historians, archivists, workers of museums, libraries, cultural and educational institutions, social activists, and media representatives. The Society of Historian-Archivists of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic holds creative competitions of historical essays, conferences and seminars.
They talked about the role of the Society of Historian-Archivists at the Palace of the Republic on the occasion of the anniversary. Deputy of the Supreme Council Andrei Safonov read out the welcoming address of the Chairman of the Supreme Council, where Alexander Korshunov noted: the Society has managed to unite archivists, historians, local historians, representatives of the media and other professions in the most difficult political and economic conditions for 25 years. The speaker’s congratulations note, that the memory of the difficult historical path traversed by the republic and the people who played a significant role in its development are preserved thanks to the daily work of members of the society.
Pridnestrovian archivists were able to establish cooperation with many foreign colleagues thanks to professionalism, active interest and openness. Deputy of the Supreme Council Ilona Tyuryaeva spoke about this. The parliamentarian, being a member of the central Council of the Republican Party "Renewal", conveyed congratulations from the chairman of the party Galina Antyufeyeva and emphasized that the Society of Historian-Archivists provides support to the "Renewal" party in the implementation of humanitarian, cultural and educational projects.
Members of the Society carry out joint projects with the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie. The best works of children participating in creative competitions end up in the archival fund, said Chairman of the Union of Russian Communities Viorika Kokhtareva.
The head of the department Zinaida Todorashko spoke about the projects of the State Documentation and Archives Management Service. For example, the historical projects “Living Memory”, “Without Statute of Limitations”, “Memorial of Defenders of the Fatherland” tell the truth about crimes against the civilian population of Pridnestrovie during the Great Patriotic War, provide information about the fallen heroes of 1941-1945. All projects are posted on the official website of the State Service.
Distinguished members of the public organization were presented with state awards in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Society of Historian-Archivists of the PMR.
