It was crowded in the center of the city of Bendery from the very morning. Residents of the city came with flowers and portraits of their relatives and friends, whose lives were cut short by 1992. Liturgy was served in memory of those who died in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Then the leadership of the republic of the city, representatives of the parliament, ministries and departments, together with the relatives of the heroes and the people of Bendery, marched in a column from Liberation Square to the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow. "Tape of Memory" and "Road of Memory" mass events are held in Bendery annually on the 19th of June.
Commemorative events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Bendery tragedy continued at the Borisov cemetery. The defenders of Pridnestrovie who defended their native city in March-August 1992 are buried here at the Alley of Heroes. Flowers were laid at their graves by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Korshunov, deputies of the Supreme Council, representatives of ministries, departments, social activists, relatives of the victims.
June 19 is a sad date both for the residents of the city of Bendery and for all Pridnestrovians, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic noted. According to Alexander Korshunov, historical truth and historical memory about the history of our young republic, about those people who gave the most valuable thing – their lives – must be passed on to the younger generation.
A member of the terrible events of 1992 was the deputy of the Supreme Council Andrey Safonov. He also took part in mourning events in the city of Bender today.
Archbishop Sawa of Tiraspol and Dubossary held a litia for the fallen heroes. A flower-laying ceremony was held at the monument to the defenders and at their graves after that. Those who died in 1992 were remembered by name.
