15 years of the referendum on the independence of Pridnestrovie and joining the Russian Federation

17.09.2021

- Do you support the course towards the independence of the PMR and the subsequent free accession of Pridnestrovie to the Russian Federation?

- Do you consider it possible to renounce the independence of the PMR with the subsequent entry into the Republic of Moldova?

The inhabitants of Pridnestrovie answered these two questions on September 17, 2006, participating in a referendum on the independence of our republic. 262 polling stations, turnout - almost 79% and 97.1% of those who voted in Pridnestrovie spoke for an independent republic and subsequent accession to Russia. These are the figures for the second independence referendum. They determined the development of our state.

15 years ago, the referendum on independence and accession to the Russian Federation was an attempt to resolve the situation with the economic blockade, which was organized by Kiev and Chisinau. As a result, the plebiscite became the basis for the further strategic course of Tiraspol towards Moscow. Pridnestrovie and Russia have united and continue to unite common historical roots, social and economic ties, identical educational systems, ideology and mentality, said the speaker of the Pridnestrovian Parliament. An important factor in the step-by-step rapprochement will be the participation of Pridnestrovians in the upcoming elections to the Russian parliament, which will be held on September 19. The leadership and deputies of the Supreme Council of the PMR urge Pridnestrovians - citizens of the Russian Federation - to take an active part in the voting and elect deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation who will worthily represent the interests of our republic in the Russian Parliament.
