Bendery is 616

Dear residents of Bendery!

On behalf of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and on my own behalf I congratulate you on the 616th anniversary of the first chronicle mention of the city of Bendery!

Pridnestrovians are strong with their centuries-old common history, united by centuries of living on the same land, connected by the foundation laid by our ancestors. Therefore, Bendery is not just the oldest city in the republic, it is our heritage, and its 616th anniversary is our pride and common joy.

The history of Bendery is inextricably linked with the glorious past of our state, which includes years of struggle and glorious victories. This ancient city remembers the glory of Russian weapons, the triumphs of Generals Panin and Potemkin, and the walks of the great Pushkin, confirming the inseparable centuries-old unity of the Pridnestrovian and Russian peoples. The city was destroyed almost to the ground during the Great Patriotic War, and it again faced a bloody tragedy in 1992, but the residents of Bendery stood firm, showing courage and fortitude, proving their right to live and work with dignity on their land. Bendery is the tourist center of Pridnestrovie today. The city with a unique appearance, which organically combines antiquity and modernity. This is undoubtedly the merit of the hardworking, energetic and hospitable residents of Bendery, who with their daily work contribute to the development and prosperity of their native city, putting a piece of their own soul. I am sure that many more bright and eventful pages will be written in the chronicle of the city! I wish the citizens health, well-being, harmony, peace and joy! I wish prosperity, new discoveries and prospects to Bendery!
