The Supreme Council adopted in the first reading law-in-draft that proposes to give citizens the right to privatize housing provided to them in the order of partial improvement of living conditions. We are talking about those who were registered as in need of better housing conditions and received an apartment or house temporarily. There are appeals wishing to privatize such housing in the state administrations of cities and regions.

Amendments are being made to the Housing Code and the law “On the privatization of the state (municipal) housing stock”. Citizens will have the right to privatize temporary housing if the amendments are adopted in the final reading. The Regional Policy Committee will continue to work on the law-in-draft.

The Supreme Council supported today another initiative proposed in the interests of citizens. Deputies of the Committee on Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Housing and Public Utilities Ruslan Gareev, Anton Onufrienko, Boris German and Ivan Nedelkov consider it necessary to give the owners of water meters the right to terminate contracts for their maintenance unilaterally. The initiative was developed based on a large number of applications. People in practice could not exercise their right not to use the services of companies servicing water meters. This right was granted to them last year, when the deputies adopted the relevant amendments to the law “On drinking water supply in the PMR”.

The deputies adopted the initiative of their colleagues in the first reading at the plenary session. The profile committee will prepare the document for consideration in the second reading.
