The Regatta of Memory

The Regatta of Memory was held in honor of the athletes who defended Pridnestrovie by tradition on the 19th of June in Bendery. Rowing veterans and athletes remember three pupils of the Bendery rowing school who died defending the republic. Academic rowers who served in the militia, Yuri Gladkov and Andrei Bunin, were killed in an infantry fighting vehicle. For many years she has been standing at the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow in Bendery. Vyacheslav Malchukov died in captivity.

Today, according to the tradition, the Regatta of Memory was held at the renovated rowing base "Chaika". The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov, the leadership of the city of Bendery launched as part of the crews of veterans, professionals and amateurs of rowing.

The participants lowered wreaths and flowers to the waters of the Dniester in memory of the defenders who died in the summer of 1992. The siren sounded in all Pridnestrovian cities and a Minute of Silence was declared at 4:45 pm. It was at this time in 1992 that the invasion of the military formations of Moldova into the peaceful city on the Dniester began.
