The 100th anniversary of the formation of the Tiraspol City Council

10.03.2017

Dear deputies of the Tiraspol City Council!

On behalf of the Supreme Council of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and from me personally, please receive congratulations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Tiraspol City Council!

Over the years, Tiraspol had to endure ups and downs, occupation during the Great Patriotic War and the process of post-war reconstruction. Throughout this long time, deputies of the Tiraspol City Council have always been in the forefront when taking important issues that decide the fate of the city and its residents.

The first Council appeared in Tiraspol March 8, 1917, when the Provisional Soviet of Workers' Deputies was formed. And March 12, 1917, the Tiraspol Soviet of Workers' Deputies began its work.

During the Great Patriotic War, the executive committee of the city council temporarily stopped its activities. April 12, 1944, Tiraspol was liberated from the German fascist invaders. After 8 days, the first meeting of the city executive committee passed after the liberation, the city council resumed its activity aimed at restoring the city's vitality.

The political events of the early 1990s leading to the collapse of the Soviet Union left an imprint on the history of the city and led to changes in the structure of local authorities. At the same time, the Tiraspol City Council played one of the key roles in the formation of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

September 2, 1990 in Tiraspol, the II Extraordinary Congress of deputies of all levels of Pridnestrovie, which was led by the chairman of the Tiraspol Soviet Smirnov I.N., was held. The result is the proclamation of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the election of the Provisional Supreme Council, which was chaired by Smirnov I.N., the future first president of the young republic.

The Tiraspol city council can rightfully be called a "source" of outstanding people who became the founders of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and continue to serve the good of our state.

Currently, the capital deputy corps keeps the continuity of past convocations in productive interaction with executive authorities and activities aimed at the social and economic development of the city.

Your fruitful activity is based on inseparable connection with your voters, constant and close communication with citizens. Thanks to the active civic position of the deputies, it is possible to find solutions to many problems in a variety of spheres.

Responsibility in choosing effective ways of solving the set goals in a multifaceted activity aimed at the prosperity of the capital of our state is on your shoulders.

I wish all of you good health, happiness, prosperity, family coziness, new achievements and significant achievements in professional work for the benefit of your native city and its inhabitants. Let reliable and faithful helpers and like-minded people always will be near you!
