The Great Patriotic War is a time when ordinary people performed feats, becoming real heroes. One of these heroes was our fellow countryman, lieutenant general of tank troops, Hero of the Soviet Union, tank battle master Vladimir Bochkovsky.
Vladimir Bochkovsky was born on the 28th of June, 1923 in the city of Tiraspol. Pridnestrovie is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of a great countryman this week. On the day of the 100th anniversary, deputies of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeeva and Ilona Tyuryaeva, youth and activists of the Renewal party came to honor the memory of the legend of the Red Army at his grave.
Vladimir Bochkovsky began his military career in 1942, barely graduating from such a school. He went to the front at the age of 19, commanded a tank platoon. induction by fire took place on the Bryansk front, then there was Stalingrad, the Kursk Bulge, the liberation of Ukraine and Poland, the capture of Berlin. 36 destroyed German tanks on his personal account, he burned 5 times in a tank, 6 times he was wounded. He continued to serve in the tank troops, trying to pass on his experience and knowledge to the next generations after the end of the Great Patriotic War. Vladimir Bochkovsky began his career as a commander of a tank platoon, and thanks to his skill and dedication to service he reached the rank of lieutenant general of tank troops. His exploits and life path were discussed today in the course of the round table organized by the Renewal Republican Party as part of the My Great Compatriots project.
The project "My Great Compatriots", initiated by Deputy Ilona Tyuryaeva, is aimed at popularizing the achievements of outstanding personalities who were born and raised in the Pridnestrovian land.
Vladimir Bochkovsky is an honorary citizen of Tiraspol, a lane in the city center is named after him. Bochkovsky was engaged in social activities after returning to his small homeland in 1980. He passed away on May 7, 1999, and was buried on the "Walk of Fame" of the capital's cemetery. There is a memorial plate on the wall of the house where he once lived.
