16.03.2020

Deputy of the Supreme Council Vadim Doni tells the story of his great-grandfather. In 1941, the Slobodzeaya military enlistment office sent Fyodor Mikhailovich Podlesky to the front. Vadim Doni from relatives knows that his great-grandfather served in the 64th Rifle Battalion and was seriously injured in battles near Odessa, not far from Razdelnaya. There is no more information about Fedor Podlesny. Deputy Vadim Doni learned about the new project “Return of the Name” that has already become international. The parliamentarian became his coordinator in Pridnestrovie, and now he and other Pridnestrovians have a chance to learn about the fate of their relatives, missing prisoners of concentration camps and soldiers of the Red Army.

New military-patriotic international project “Return of the Name” has already begun its work in Pridnestrovie. The project originated in Abkhazia in 2014. It was joined by Russia, Austria and Kazakhstan, now and Pridnestrovie. The main goal of the project is to find information about prisoners who died in concentration camps and about missing soldiers of the Red Army.

At the first stage of the “Return of the Name” project, all information on the lists of the missing Red Army soldiers will be processed. In this, Vadim Doni is counting on the site “Memory of the People”. This online archive helps to find more information from the biographies of participants in the Great Patriotic War. You can find detailed information about the hostilities during the Great Patriotic War on the site "Memory of the people". After studying all the information for each soldier who went to the front from the Pridnestrovian cities and was captured or went missing, they will get a special card. The next stage of the “Return of the Name” project will be the search for prisoners of war relatives. They will be given documents on the fate of their loved ones, who gave their lives for their homeland and families.

Vadim Doni said: the state administrations of Tiraspol, Bendery and Dubossary district will invite to participate in the “Return of the Name” project. With their help, they will find relatives to report on the information that already exists. Information about the inhabitants of Pridnestrovie, which are still considered missing during the Great Patriotic War, will be searched. This is especially important in the year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany.
