"Special conversation" with the Speaker

Real and potential challenges for the Pridnestrovian economy, import substitution, cargo delays at the border with Moldova – these and other issues were discussed by the journalists of the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel with the Head of the legislative body in the "Special Conversation" program.

One of the most exciting issues today is the economic situation in the republic. The Pridnestrovian economy has faced a number of serious challenges. Experts admit that there are problems, including potential ones. Alexander Korshunov spoke about what the leadership of the republic plans to undertake in this situation.

The issue of import substitution was discussed as well. The Head of the legislative body noted that the leadership of the republic pays great attention to food security. Active steps have been taken to support the domestic manufacturer that meets the needs of the domestic market since 2017. The results are already visible today – the production of milk, meat and other products has increased many times over.

Among the urgent threats to the food security of Pridnestrovie is the regular detention of Pridnestrovian goods by Moldovan customs. Moldova did not allow a batch of buckwheat and wheat flour from the Russian Federation to enter Pridnestrovie last week. The issue of delayed medicines for Pridnestrovians has not yet been resolved. There are also problems with obtaining a permit for the operation of the Moldavian Metallurgical Plant, the flagship of the industry of Pridnestrovie.

Alexander Korshunov noted that the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Pridnestrovian representatives in the Joint Control Commission are actively working on solving these problems today.

Other burning issues were also discussed in the course of the conversation –optimization of the healthcare system, transition of individual entrepreneurs from a patent to a simplified taxation system and the development of sports in the republic.
