The 22nd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place in the northern capital of Russia from 24 to 26 May. This is a unique event in the world of economics and business. 140 countries of the world and 15 thousand participants are represented here. The event is held since 1997, and since 2006 is held under patronage and with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation. Over the past 20 years, the forum has become the world's leading platform for communication of business representatives and discussion of key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets and the world as a whole.

Digitalization, human capital and GDP growth are topics of discussion on the first day of the forum in St. Petersburg. Its visitors could see the latest technological developments and communicate with artificial intelligence. Dozens of meetings, discussions, panel sessions took place within the framework of the event. Pridnestrovian deputies also took an active part in the work of the SPIEF-18. As Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture Mikhail Burla said by telephone, representatives of the Pridnestrovian parliament became participants in the official opening of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The event was attended by experts, world business leaders, politicians, government representatives and members of foreign delegations, including from the BRICS and CIS countries. Among the speakers there were First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov. He said that the government is not going to change the tax burden for the next six years, but will "adjust" existing taxes to ensure economic growth.

The work of the forum continued at the panel discussions. The Pridnestrovian legislators took part in several discussion platforms.

Dozens agreements were signed on the first day of the forum. The exact figure and amount will be known today. For example, last year, more than 400 investment agreements worth about 2 trillion rubles were signed. The significance of the foreign companies represented at the forum, which are considered as potential investors, is evidenced by such a figure: their total capital is 13 trillion dollars.

Today the work of the panel sessions continued. the plenary session of the SPIEF-18 will be opened At 14:00. It will be addressed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
