“The Lilac of the Victory”

The city of military glory Bendery joined the All-Russian mass event “The Lilac of the Victory”, which united hero cities. In the park "40 Years of Victory", that is in the "Leninsky" micro district, residents of Bendery planted 55 lilacs.

The event was attended by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, deputy of the Supreme Council for Bendery constituency No. 4 Sergei Khankevich, chairman of the City Council of People's Deputies Yuri Kara, head of the state administration Roman Ivanchenko, public figures, schoolchildren, and kindergarten children.

Fifty lilac seedlings especially for the action were raised in the Botanical Garden of the Republic, five seedlings of the variety "Lilac of Victory" were taken to Bendery from Moscow. Participants of the event, timed to the 72nd anniversary of the Victory, expressed the hope that this lilac will remind for a long time the descendants of the war veterans about the won Piece.

After laying alleys in memory of those who did not return from the battlefields, lilac balloons were launched into the sky.
