"Garden of Memory" in Tiraspol's Zapadny square

25.04.2025

Pridnestrovians continue to participate in the "Garden of Memory" international campaign. Each new tree planted in a park, square or next to a house is a living monument reminding us of the heroism of Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War.

About 40 young trees were planted in the Zapadny square in the eponymous microdistrict of Tiraspol with the support of deputies of the Supreme Council and the Tiraspol City Council. Vice-speaker of the parliament and deputy for constituency No. 25 Galina Antyufeeva annually participates in the "Garden of Memory" campaign. Galina Antyufeeva together with students of the Agrarian and Technical College and activists of the "Obnovlenie" party in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory planted red rowan, spherical and common maple, weeping and spherical mulberry, as well as catalpa, which will provide shade over the years.

The "Zapadny" square appeared about 7 years ago. The once empty area among the multi-story buildings in Zapadny Lane has now been improved. Tiraspol residents walk along tiled paths, young maples and lindens have grown. Later, benches will be installed in the square. Improvement and landscaping of the district continues.

Students of the Agrarian and Technical College, having joined the action, simultaneously worked as part of their first educational practice. They were taught how to properly prune and root seedlings.

Young trees were provided by the nursery in Kamenka. In total, there are about 500 seedlings. Some have already been planted near the Frunze College. The remaining trees were distributed for landscaping the courtyards of the entire Zapadny microdistrict. Local residents will take care of the new trees in the Zapadny square, and the Tiraspol state administration will help with watering, the organizers noted, so that the young square is green, cozy and beautiful.
