Tiraspol joined the "Garden of Memory" international mass event, dedicated to the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. The avenue of trees was founded in the Botanical Garden of Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko. The purpose of the mass event was planting the trees in memory of 27 million Soviet citizens who died during the Great Patriotic War.
Volunteers, representatives of the "Obnovlenie" (Renewal) republican party and the "Youth Renewal" movement, the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie, employees of the State University, under the supervision of specialists, planted two dozen trees and shrubs: globular cherries, sequoias and cypresses. This is reported by the website of the "Renewal" party.
The Botanical Garden emphasized that the necessary care would be taken for the seedlings.
The Botanical Garden of the University was created on the territory of the former agrobiological station 20 years ago. It is a scientific and educational center today. There is a large collection of plants from different natural and climatic zones of Pridnestrovie and other districts (approximately 500 species of trees and shrubs, more than 200 types of medicinal plants, more than 150 types of flower crops), research, production and educational practices are being conducted, diploma papers and dissertations are being prepared .
