"Memory beats in our hearts"

There are commemorative events today in Pridnestrovie dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the Bendery tragedy. June 19, 1992 the Moldovan authorities took the invasion attempt in Pridnestrovian peaceful city of Bendery. 40 days and nights residents of Bendery experienced all the hardships of war. About five hundred people were killed then, including 66 residents of Tiraspol.

The meeting “Memory beats in our hearts” took place in Tiraspol. It was attended by the head of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk, Prime Minister Pavel Prokudin, deputies of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, Igor Buga, Andrei Safonov, Vadim Kravchuk, city leaders OGRF command, the clergy, defenders of Pridnestrovie, the members of the Women's Strike Committee, schoolchildren.

In the course of the meeting, they told about courage of Pridnestrovians, defended young state in the early 1990s, the important role of Russia, which has been stopped because of the bloodshed on the Dniester. Special words were addressed to the youth - to study the history of the republic, not to forget the heroism of its defenders.

Participants of the meeting observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims, urban school graduates launched into the sky red and green balls - a symbol of faith and freedom. Fresh flowers lay to the grave of defenders of the republic.
