"Moldova, let the gas through!": residents of Pridnestrovie demand justice

24.01.2025

Protest rallies against the actions of the Moldovan authorities, which are aggravating the energy crisis in the republic, took place in the cities of Pridnestrovie today. Chanting "Moldova - let the gas through!" and holding posters with the slogans "No to the genocide of the Pridnestrovian people", "Serebrian, stop lying!" and "Pridnestrovie is an independent state", people openly expressed outrage at the delay in the decision on the supply of humanitarian Russian gas to our republic. The protests spread not only to Bendery, but also to other cities of the republic – Dubossary and Rybnitsa. Residents gathered in all points located on the border with Moldova to defend the right to a decent life, to access to energy resources – gas, heat and electricity.

“This is genocide, not a crisis!”

The speakers at the rally did not hide their emotions, emphasizing that the situation with energy supply has gone too far and has catastrophic consequences for Pridnestrovians.

The protesters spoke not only about the physical cold in houses, but also about the social isolation that Pridnestrovie is facing. The republic has effectively found itself in a blockade: economic ties with neighboring countries are being destroyed, entrepreneurs and enterprises are faced with customs delays when exporting and importing goods and raw materials.

The protesters called on the Moldovan leadership to end the blockade and ensure gas supplies to Pridnestrovie in order to avoid a humanitarian crisis.

"We represent the interests of the elderly"

The chairman of the Bendery Association of Victims of Political Repressions Mikhail Taskari spoke at the rally.

"The key to the pipe is in the hands of Moldova"

Vyacheslav Nazarov, one of the participants in the rally, a deputy of the Bendery City Council of People's Deputies, also expressed his opinion.

The residents of Pridnestrovie do not intend to put up with the current situation and are ready to fight for their rights and the future of Pridnestrovie.
