The results of the republican contest of historical writings "And the memory of the heart says ..." was summed up today in the Republic Palace. The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. The organizer was the society of historians-archivists of Pridnestrovie with the support of state authorities and public associations.
The beginning of the competition was announced in November. During this time about 100 works were received in Russian, Ukrainian and Moldavian. Students, schoolchildren, everyone who wished to share the history of their family, city, town or village could participate. The youngest author is only 11.
The main condition - the works of the participants should contain specific information and facts that affect the fate of Pridnestrovians. The jury drew attention to the personal assessment of the author, his attitude towards the Afghan events.
Schoolgirl from Vladimirovka Karina Zhuravskaya wrote a message to her fellow villager Vladimir Milotsky. Admiration for the feat of a man who passed through Afghanistan, as well as gratitude and appreciation was in the lines of the girl. The veteran has been dead for several years, but his memory is alive. A student of the 8th class was awarded for her work an award from the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan.
The chairman of the association, parliamentarian Igor Buga, congratulated the children. He recalled that almost 9,000 of the 15,000 who died in Afghanistan are young people under the age of 25. They had to return, start a family, raise children, build the state.
The deputy noted that the contestants managed to feel the theme of the Afghan war.
According to the organizers, the presented works will replenish the archival fund of Pridnestrovie and acquire the status of historical sources. In addition, the essays will be published in the collection “Your people, Pridnestrovie”.
