Beginning in the district of the village of Parkany, where the arch of the world is "Blessed are the peacemakers", they continued in Bendery - on the next day the peacekeepers at the Palace of Culture named after P. Tkachenko. It was in this building that the Joint Control Commission began its work 26 years ago, here and now its members gather for weekly meetings.
26 years ago, on July 29, 1992, the first military unit of Russian peacekeepers arrived in Pridnestrovie. It was a sign - the war was over. Soldiers and officers with blue chevrons became the guardians of peace and security on the banks of the Dniester. A year earlier, in Bendery, on the alley of peacekeepers, they opened a monument. The author of the monument is Sergey Gorbachenko.
The monument to the peacekeepers also continued today's solemn events. In the hands of the leaders of the republic, flowers are a tribute of gratitude to the servicemen of Russia, Pridnestrovie and Moldova for their hard work, for peace and tranquility in their homes, for the smiles of children, for the opportunity to live and not to hear the whistles of bullets and shells. The wreath to the monument was laid by the President of Pridnestrovie Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Federation to RM Roman Romanov, followed by the command of OGRW, peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation, deputies of the Supreme Council, representatives of the government bodies and management of the PMR, servicemen of the RF peacekeeping forces and the PMR.
