The official representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in Tiraspol today recalled the first President of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba. He died 10 years ago, on March 4, 2010. A photo exhibition “75 Moments from the Life of the Great Son of Abkhazia” was opened at the representative office in Tiraspol. The plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR Alexander Vataman noted that the photo exhibition tells about Vladislav Ardzinba, a scientist, statesman, army commander and the first president. Among the photographs there is a section about the family of Vladislav Ardzinba. Alexander Wataman emphasized: after the 1992 war, the first president of Abkhazia was able to rebuild all the institutions of state power and lay the legal foundations for the development of the country.
Vladislav Ardzinba entered the history of Abkhaz- Pridnestrovian relations. The first basic agreement between the republics of 1993 is his signature and the signature of Igor Smirnov. The Presidents of Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie then had several personal meetings, the first PMR President, the head of the Consultative Assembly of the first deputies, said today. The current presidents of Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie signed an updated treaty of friendship, cooperation and partnership in 2017.
