Administrative responsibility may be introduced in Pridnestrovie for refusing to provide a product or any service to a consumer for reasons related to his state of health, disability or age. It is about protecting the rights of disabled people, pensioners and other socially vulnerable categories of citizens. The question was initiated by a group of deputies of the Legislation Committee. The reason was the cases of unfair behavior towards such people. For example, the media widely discussed the situation when a wheelchair teenager was asked to leave in one of the cafes in St. Petersburg in 2017.
Violations of the rights of consumers of a socially vulnerable category of citizens have not been recorded in our republic. The Supreme Council deputies consider it necessary to prevent the occurrence of such situations. The introduction of administrative responsibility, according to the authors of the law-in-draft will contribute to greater protection of the rights of disabled people and elderly people.
A number of exceptions are provided for in which a person with disabilities can be denied, for example, access to attractions as well as when it comes to prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, nicotine-containing mixtures and other goods to minors.
Deputies of the Committee on Legislation supported at their meeting the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses. The law-in-draft will be considered at one of the plenary sessions of the Supreme Council.
