The Road Traffic Safety Law gives the right to replace a driver's license without passing an exam only within 180 days from the date it expired. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky proposed eliminating this provision and giving everyone the opportunity to replace their driver’s license without exams. The President initiated amendments to the law, proposing to retain the obligation of drivers to undergo a medical examination.
The law-in-draft was considered in the course of the meeting of the Committee on Legislation, Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Citizens. The deputies decided to recommend that parliament accept the President's initiative in the first reading. The topic of simplifying the procedure for replacing a driver's license is repeatedly raised by citizens in their appeals, noted participants in the Committee meeting.
The law-in-draft of the President will be considered in the first reading at the next plenary meeting.
