Whether the free legal assistance possible?

Vice-Speaker Galina Antyufeyeva proposed to introduce into the legal framework of the republic a completely new law “On free legal assistance in Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”. The law-in-draft was developed by analogy with the Russian one and is being prepared for consideration in the first reading. This, in particular, is about supporting socially vulnerable groups of the population. In order to discuss the mechanism for implementing legislative innovations, the Legislation Committee held a meeting of the working group. Representatives of the legal community, the prosecutor's office, ministries of finance, social protection and labor as well as student legal advice from Pridnestrovian State University were invited to the dialogue.

The issue of financing the activities of legal advice should be worked out in detail with the relevant ministry, the vice speaker supposes. It is planned that funds to provide such assistance to citizens will be taken from the republican and local budgets. In addition, according to the representative of the Advocates Collegium Association, it is necessary to find public funds not only to pay for legal advice, but also to consider organizational issues regarding the allocation of premises for specialists, providing them with the necessary material and technical base.

Galina Antyufeyeva voiced a proposal to involve in the process of providing free legal services, in addition to lawyers, employees of legal departments of departments of the republic and the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. It is necessary, according to the vice-speaker, to make schedules of receptions.

The panelists agreed: it is important to register a list of persons who will be entitled to receive free legal assistance. The main criterion should be low income.

They rose during the meeting the issue of participation in the process of providing legal assistance to the population of students, future lawyers. Participants in the meeting said that they will develop practical skills and get the experience necessary for further work.
