Deputies of the Committee on Social Policy and Health considered the law-in-draft of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, designed to encourage citizens to adopt orphans and children left without parental care. The legislative initiative was prepared as part of events dedicated to the Year of Family and Family Values.

The Government proposed to include in the law a rule according to which it would be possible to receive a one-time benefit when adopting a child under the age of 18. One can receive a lump sum benefit only when adopting a child under 14 years of age currently. The amount of the one-time benefit is 242 minimum wages (2589 rubles), with this benefit amount increasing in 2024: when adopting the first child - by 3680 rubles, the second and subsequent children - by 4406 rubles.

The Government proposes to increase the size of the one-time benefit to 2500 minimum wages (about 30 thousand rubles) for each child in the case of adoption of a disabled child, a child over 7 years old, as well as children who are brothers and sisters. It is proposed to make corresponding amendments to the law “On State Benefits for Citizens with Children”.

The initiative of the PMR Government to amend the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic “On State Benefits for Citizens with Children” will be included in the agenda of one of the upcoming meetings. The relevant parliamentary Committee will recommend that the parliamentary corps adopt the law-in-draft in the first reading and continue working on it in the second reading.
