The Supreme Council decided to develop a draft of new Code of Criminal Procedure. They will be dealt with by a specially created working group. Today was its first organizational meeting. Deputies and specialists of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens, representatives of the Prosecutor's Office, the Investigative Committee, the Supreme Court, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the ministries of justice, internal affairs, defense, state security, State Customs Committee. The similar code of Russia is taken as a basis.
The Russian Code of Criminal Procedure contains about 60 chapters. Each will be worked out taking into account the peculiarities of our republic and the norms already in force in this sphere. Meetings of the working group will be held throughout the year – until April 2024, so that the draft is verified for each chapter and article.
