The agenda of the online meeting of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and the Media includes law-in-draft of the Government on amending the law “On the Education of Persons with Disabilities (Special Education)”. The initiative is designed to address legal gaps and improve the standards for conducting final assessments for this category of students, in particular, those with intellectual disabilities.
The PMR Minister of Education noted that the state certification of students with disabilities is carried out taking into account the peculiarities of their development. Graduates receive a certificate after finishing the school. The legislation does not specify which document is issued to students with intellectual disabilities who studied according to an adapted basic general education program and passed an exam in labor training at the same time.
The procedure for the final certification of students with mental retardation will be developed by the relevant ministry. The deputies of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and Mass Media supported the law-in-draft of social orientation and decided to recommend to their colleagues in the deputy corps to adopt it in the first reading.
