Observance of the rights of citizens

The Supreme Council deputies changed the norms of the law "On drinking water supply in the PMR" last year. Now the owner of the water meter does not have to conclude an agreement on its service. Thus, a person has the right to choose – to pay a monthly fee every month or once every five years to hand over a water meter for verification for a fee. The deputies noted that in practice there is a situation where Pridnestrovians cannot terminate the meter maintenance agreement with a specialized organization under the new law. The issue has been raised by voters.

Ruslan Gareev, Anton Onufrienko, Boris German and Ivan Nedelkov submitted to the Parliament a legislative initiative capable of relieving tension in society and restoring the rights of citizens. The new amendments to the law "On drinking water supply in the PMR" are aimed at giving citizens the indisputable right to unilaterally refuse to execute the contract for the subscription service of the water meter. The law-in-draft was supported by deputies in the course of the meeting of the Committee on Regional Policy today. The initiative will be recommended for adoption in the first reading at the plenary session.
