The need to develop and adopt a targeted program for the prevention of viral hepatitis B and C is associated with the unfavorable epidemiological situation of viral hepatitis in our republic. Our incidence is 1.1 people per 100 thousand people, compared with European countries, there are from 0.1 to 0.4 per 100 thousand people in European countries. This is just the official statistics. According to international organizations, the territories of the Republic of Moldova and PMR rank first in the world in mortality from liver cirrhosis. About 70-72 deaths are registered annually per 100 thousand of the population.

The program that was presented by the Head physician of the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases Alexander Gonchar, in addition to diagnostics also provides for treatment and preventive measures to prevent new cases of viral hepatitis B and C. The program budget for 4 years is 41.5 million rubles in general.

The treatment of viral hepatitis has already been introduced, which is used with success in many countries now. There are good results - 98% of the sick are cured. It is planned to treat about 50% of patients with viral hepatitis in 4 years in our republic.

In addition, the program provides for keeping records of all patients. As noted by Alexander Gonchar, these data were scattered, unreliable and not in full until now. The money provided for the implementation of the program will be spent in three areas - prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Preventive measures will include media coverage of the problem, the work of a general medical network with the population, the development of booklets, leaflets and lectures. It is also planned to create a website where data from all medical institutions will be collected.

The deputies of the Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare supported the draft of the new state program and will recommend the Supreme Council to adopt it in the first reading.
