Expanding state support for young families to purchase housing

29.02.2024

Young families who have taken out a soft loan to purchase housing will be able to transfer these obligations to the other spouse if necessary, but only on condition that it meets the requirements and conditions imposed on the recipient of the state subsidy. This legislative initiative was discussed in the first reading today in the course of the meeting of the Committee on Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Housing and Communal Services of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The author of the initiative was a group of deputies; it is proposed to amend the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic “On State Support for Young Families for the Purchase of Housing”.

The necessity of making changes is due to the desire to create additional forms of state support for young families. According to the proposed mechanism, it will be possible to transfer these obligations to the other spouse if circumstances arise that lead to the termination of subsidy payments by one of the spouses of a young family, but based on the statement of both spouses.

The adoption of this law-in-draft will not cause negative socio-economic consequences, the authors consider. He proposes a new mechanism that will expand the opportunities for young families to purchase housing, including in fulfilling obligations to the state on the contrary. Deputies of the relevant Committee unanimously supported the law-in-draft; it will be presented for consideration by the deputy corps in the first reading in the course of the plenary session of Parliament.
