Extension of existing state support measures for children with disabilities

Measures of state support for children with disabilities will be enshrined on a permanent basis in the relevant law. They began to operate in the republic during the period of COVID restrictions. These measures are enshrined now in anti-crisis legislation and are therefore temporary.

The PMR Law “On Social Protection of Disabled Persons” proposes to fix a norm that will exempt disabled children from paying for meals in day-care rehabilitation centers.

Such children will be provided with their choice of either food packages or monetary compensation in cases where it is not possible to organize lunches.

Additional funding from the republican budget will not be required for these purposes according to the explanatory note to the law-in-draft. The necessary limits have already been included in the budget for the next financial year.

The law-in-draft on amendments to the PMR Law “On Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities” will be considered by the deputy corps at a plenary meeting this week in two readings at once. The new measures will come into force on January 1, 2024 if the law-in-draft is adopted in final reading.
