The Program for memorial sites improvement

Pridnestrovie will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in 2025. Memorials of Military Glory of the Great Patriotic War and burial places of Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory, will be put in order by this date in cities and regions. The work is planned to be carried out at more than 20 sites within the framework of the relevant state program, the draft of which was considered by deputies of the Committee on Legislation, Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens in the course of the meeting. Parliamentarians, emphasizing the need to carry out work to improve and preserve memorial sites, unanimously supported the adoption of the state program. The draft will be considered in the first reading at one of the plenary sessions.

“The Improvement and preservation of burial places of Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory and Memorials of Military Glory of the Great Patriotic War” program is designed for 2 years. The necessary work will begin next year and be completed in 2025.

The Program directions:

– perpetuating the memory of those killed in defense of the Fatherland, ensuring the safety and improvement of cultural heritage sites, military graves, arrangement of certain territories associated with the exploits of those killed in defense of the Fatherland;

– major repairs, reconstruction, restoration and improvement of burial places of Heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Order of Glory;

– bringing the Memorials of Military Glory of the Great Patriotic War to proper condition.

To implement the program, over 16 million rubles are needed. Financing will be provided within the Capital Investment Fund. They want to allocate target funds in the amount of 10.6 million rubles in the 2024 budget to carry out the first stage of work.

An official representative of the Ministry of Defense on this law-in-draft told deputies that the list of memorial places was formed taking into account the proposals of city and district state administrations.

Work will be carried out at the Memorial of Glory of Tiraspol and the Memorial of Military Glory of Bendery as part of the state program. Monuments to Soviet soldiers will be reconstructed in Kitskany and Sukleya and will be overhauled in Pervomaisk. A monument to the Great Patriotic War veteran, Hero of the Soviet Union Fyodor Antonovich Ugnachev will be erected at the central cemetery in Slobodzeya. Granite slabs with the names of those who died during the Second World War will be installed in the villages of the Grigoriopol region, and two portrait sculptures of Heroes of the Soviet Union Ivan Alekseevich Kuznetsov and Semyon Grigorievich Sobolev will be installed in the center of the village of Malaeshty. The Memorial to the Victims of Fascism will be repaired and work will be carried out on the Military Glory Memorial Complex in Dubossary. The adjacent territory of the bust of Hero of the Soviet Union Zina Portnova will be repaired and landscaped in Tsybulevka. The mass grave of Soviet soldiers and the monument to those killed during the Great Patriotic War will be overhauled in the village of Plot, Rybnitsa district. The list of events includes a number of other works at memorial sites throughout the republic. Deputies of the Committee on Legislation consider it necessary to include in the work plan the restoration of the Memorial complex in the village of Novotiraspolsky.

As noted in the explanatory note to the law-in-draft, the goal of the state program is to preserve cultural heritage sites of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which will not only bring cultural heritage sites into proper condition, but also ensure the fulfillment of social and economic tasks, since this area of activity is related to the development of tourism and other socially significant functions.
