Food security of the country

Land reclamation issues are back on the agenda. The Agro-Industrial Complex Committee prepared law-in-draft “On land reclamation in the PMR”. Today it was considered in the first reading. As it was noted during the discussion, the development of land reclamation is an important area of ​​both the agro-industrial complex and the economy of the republic as a whole. Practice shows that it is impossible to ensure high yields without state support for the industry. This, first of all, is the food security of the country.

A conceptual innovation of the legislative initiative is the possibility of creating fund for development of land reclamation, from which state targeted programs will be financed. This fund will receive financial resources from a targeted levy for the development of land reclamation, import customs duties and a number of other sources.

According to the deputies of the relevant committee, adoption of the law-in-draft will allow financing and carrying out work on the restoration and development of the PMR melioration complex. This will be a planned programmatic approach that will ensure transparency and efficiency in all decisions made.

Deputies of the Committee will recommend to the deputy corps to adopt law-in-draft in the first reading and to continue working on it.
