Meeting of the Commission on Foreign Policy and International Relations was held in the Supreme Council. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vitaly Ignatiev informed the deputies about the situation in relations with Moldova and about the meeting of political representatives of the PMR and RM.

Earlier, from January 1, 2024, the Republic of Moldova began to compulsorily collect customs duties on goods imported by business entities of Pridnestrovie. As a result, economic agents of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic received an additional financial burden in the form of paying double customs duties. According to preliminary calculations by the State Customs Committee of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, losses of Pridnestrovie from Moldova’s new customs duties could amount to about $16 million only this year.

Galina Antyufeyeva noted that the increased economic pressure from Moldova will affect all residents of Pridnestrovie. Therefore, the leadership of the republic, including the Supreme Council, needs today to take measures that will not only protect the interests of Pridnestrovians, but also enable the state to continue to fulfill its social obligations.
