The right of military servicemen to provide training holidays

One of the issues on the agenda of the meeting of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture concern the implementation of military law to provide educational holidays. The President of the state offered the initiative that proposes to establish the right to education while serving under contract. According to the author, the law-in-draft would allow the military to purchase a number of advantages and additional guarantees in the implementation of the right to education. This requires the development of a normative legal act of the government, which would define the procedure for exercising this right.

Deputies supported the law-in-draft. They will recommend deputies to adopt it in the first reading.

Issues relating to the implementation of the mechanism of the proposed rule, are still opened. After the adoption of the law-in-draft in the first reading, legislators and officials continue to work together on the document.

Deputies of the Committee discussed the government's initiative offering to oblige public organizations to publish quarterly information on funding sources. Considering the law-in-draft, deputies focused on a number of non-governmental organizations - in the republic there are about two hundred. Legislators worried about "overloading" print media with reporting information. At the same time, deputies noted as a relevant question concerning the financing of public organizations from foreign sources. In the course of voting, opinion of members of the Education Committee divided: some have proposed to reject the law-in-draft, while others - to reject a proposal to change the concept of the author of the document. Deputies will make decision on this initiative.

Among the initiatives on which the Education Committee continues to work – there is a law-in-draft concerning the abolition of the Unified State Examination as the only form of state final examination. Let’s remember, the Initiative, whose authors are members of the Supreme Council Vladimir Bodnar and Oleg Khorzjan was adopted by parliament in the first reading. At the next meeting of the Committee, the lawmakers plan to discuss the comments and suggestions received from the entities.
