The right to free privatization of housing

Комитет по вопросам АПК, промышленности, транспорту, строительству и природным ресурсам

09.11.2020

The Supreme Council supported the legislative initiative of the deputies of the Agro-Industrial Complex Committee at the plenary session that took place on November 4. They came up with a proposal to give the participants in the hostilities for the PMR protection to privatize the living quarters and single-family houses occupied by them under a commercial lease agreement. This is provided that they have worked in state or municipal authorities for at least 10 years. This category of citizens until now had the opportunity to privatize such housing if the continuous period of residence in it was at least 10 years. This, in turn, gave rise to a number of difficulties in the privatization of housing. Since a person could work in government agencies, but at the same time was not provided with service housing.

The draft law was considered in the second reading today in the course of the meeting of the Committee on Agro-Industrial Complex Issues. By this time, a number of amendments had been received. Deputy Anton Onufrienko proposed to give the opportunity for free privatization of housing rented under a commercial lease agreement, not only to the participants in the hostilities to protect the PMR, but also to all citizens who rent housing under a commercial lease agreement for at least 10 years or have worked in government institutions for the same period. The deputies of the Agro-Industrial Complex Committee agreed with this proposal, noting that this option expands their initiative. The committee will recommend to the Supreme Council to adopt the law-in-draft in final reading.
