Deputies of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeyeva, Oleg Petrik and Grigory Dyachenko proposed adjusting the law “On the status of military personnel”. The authors want to give military personnel the right to engage in paid sports activities in the field of elite sports, if this does not interfere with the performance of military service duties. We are talking about sportsmen who achieve high sports results at official republican and international sports competitions. The reason for the development of the law-in-draft was an appeal from the leadership of the Olympic Reserve School. The fact is that in the event of conscription, athletes-instructors lose the right to wages and travel allowances if they participate in international competitions. All this affects the motivation of athletes; some sportsmen after completing military service, no longer return to elite sports, as noted in the explanation to the law-in-draft. The proposed changes to the law “On the Status of Military Personnel” will be considered in the first and second readings at one of the plenary sessions.
