Schoolchildren who have reached the age of 14 will no longer have to obtain the consent of the guardianship and trusteeship authorities to enter into an employment contract. The written consent of one of the parents or legal representative will be sufficient. Deputies of the Committee on Legislation, Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Citizens Galina Antyufeeva and Oleg Petrik proposed making appropriate changes to the Labor Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to simplify the current procedure.

According to the authors, schoolchildren often work during the holidays less than three months. These are summer part-time jobs that do not require special professional knowledge and skills and do not cause harm to health – improvement and landscaping of parks, agricultural work, assistance in libraries and museums. The process of obtaining the consent of the guardianship authority slows down the employment process and does not leave schoolchildren time to work at the same time, according to the explanatory note to the law-in-draft.

The Committee on Social Policy, Healthcare, Labor, Family and Childhood Issues will recommend adopting the law-in-draft in the second non-final reading at one of the upcoming plenary meetings and continue working on it in the third reading. Corresponding changes will need to be made to the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic “On the organization and implementation of guardianship (trusteeship) activities in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”.
